Qasimah P. Boston, MPH, CHES, DrPH (candidate)
Qasimah P. Boston is a candidate for the Doctorate of Public Health degree at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Education. She received her Master’s in Public Health at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia and her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Qasimah moved to Savannah, Georgia to work on environmental justice issues and to help engage southeast communities in the participatory activities of problem solving and decision making. She has been a human rights activist, artist and educator for more than two decades.
Qasimah’s current work and study on global household and community food security has been instrumental on the local level and her work in Ghana, West Africa will be helpful to eradicate household food insecurity globally. Her experience working within local, regional, national and international settings include the Greater Frenchtown Neighborhood Revitalization Council, the Health Equity Alliance of Tallahassee, the Harambee House, Inc., a variety of governmental agencies and the Ghana Ministry of Health. She is interested in global public health, community engagement, partnership and collaboration building activities, community based participatory research, program evaluation, empowerment strategies and health equity.
